At Stoney Lake Fine Homes we know dreams have no limitations. By offering all types of construction we have removed limitations of look, style and budget for your custom project. We offer frame / conventional, log, timber frame / post and beam and hybrids which can be any combination of construction.
Frame / Conventional
This is the most common and economical type of construction. The home is constructed using 2" x 4" or 2" x 6" studs with insulation in between interior and exterior walls. The interior wall finish is usually drywall, tongue and groove wood siding, bead board or paneling. The exterior can be wood siding, brick, stone, stucco or any combination.
Log
This construction is a stacking wood system where the exterior perimiter walls are solid wood. Interior walls can also be solid stacking logs or conventional framing can be used. The interior frame walls can then be finished with drywall or wood depending on how much or how little wood is desired. At Stoney Lake Fine Homes, we prefer using a manufactured log system as they are virtually maintenance-free and self-adjusting. Our log homes provide a 60 year warranty.
Timber Frame / Post and Beam
Timber frame construction uses a timber support structure which is fastened by traditional mortise and tenon joinery. Post and beam uses metal fasteners for joinery. The timber frame and post and beam frame is exposed on the interior of the home and the walls are formed by frame or structural insulated panels. The interior or exterior wall finish can be wood, stone, brick, stucco or any combination.
Hybrid Homes
Stoney Lake Fines Homes offers construction in frame, log and timber frame as well as any combination of log and timber frame with conventional construction known as Hybrid Homes. A conventional home can be enhanced with an open concept or entryway using timber frame to achieve higher ceilings and vaulted areas. Log and conventional construction are used when clients prefer less wood in some areas. A hybrid allows just the right amount of wood, drywall, stone or any exterior or interior application desired for a truly custom and unique look. As conventional construction is more economical than log and timber frame we can offer a custom home keeping within the guidelines of a clients budget.
